In an ideal world, where the intermediaries follow the principles of business integrity and standards, perhaps there is very little reason to have a formal compli- ance structure.
This is because positive compliance becomes an integral part of the organizational ecosystem where business integrity is part of the orga- nizational cultural and operational model.
The point to highlight here is that there is two-way business integrity expected.
I strongly believe that active compliance makes great business sense as it helps integrate business integrity.
The third and deceptively simple one (not represented in the pyramid) is if the regulatory inspection team goes back with a negative perception on the poor quality of compliance or business integrity of the organiza- tion.
